This Occupy New Mexico website exists to help connect and unify the Occupy / (un)Occupy movement and allies throughout New Mexico. At this time, Occupy New Mexico does not exist as an organization or decision-making body. The first statewide “General Assembly” of NM Occupy / (un)Occupy groups is being planned to take place on January 17, 2012, during the “Occupy the Roundhouse” day of action in Santa Fe.

Organizing for the January 17th events at the Roundhouse has been initiated and supported by the General Assembly of Occupy Santa Fe. Participants from Occupy groups across New Mexico are coming together to collaboratively envision, support and plan this day of peaceful direct action, including (un)Occupy Albuquerque, Occupy Albuquerque, Occupy Española, Occupy Farmington, Occupy Los Lunas, Occupy Santa Fe, and Occupy Taos. Diverse allies are also uniting to help participate in and support this day, including labor unions, the New Mexico chapter of MoveOn.org, Somos Un Pueblo Unido, and We Are People Here!

We stand in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street and with the Occupy movements exercising peaceful, non-violent freedom of speech and assembly throughout the United States and the world. While we do not have a single demand, we do have a unified mission to raise public awareness about and proactively address the interrelated crises of massive economic inequality, Wall Street greed, corporate corruption, domination by money over our political processes and institutions of government, and society’s overwhelming failure to solve the common problems we share that this all creates.
